The Airtech H14 HEPA filter is the terminal filtration stage for controlled environments where air quality is critical. Individually tested to EN1822, each unit ships with its own serial-numbered test certificate documenting tested efficiency at MPPS, not a batch sample, not an estimate. Standard sizes held in stock at our Silverton, Pretoria warehouse; non-standard dimensions available on 7–10 day lead time.

What Are HEPA Air Filters?

HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filters capture 99.95% or more of airborne particles: bacteria, dust, aerosols, and other contaminants that standard panel or pocket filters cannot remove. The H14 grade is the highest class in the HEPA range under the EN1822 standard, with a minimum overall efficiency of 99.995% at the most penetrating particle size (MPPS). This is the grade specified for pharmaceutical GMP cleanrooms, hospital operating theatres, and sterile compounding facilities across South Africa.

HEPA air filters are always used in combination with upstream pre-filtration. G4 panel filters remove coarse dust and debris in the first stage, F9 pocket filters handle fine particulate in the secondary stage, and the H14 HEPA provides terminal high-efficiency filtration. A well-maintained three-stage system is the standard approach in pharmaceutical and healthcare HVAC and extends HEPA service life to 3–5 years.

Why Prebur for HEPA Filter Supply

Individual EN1822 test certificates on every H14 unit

Each Airtech H14 is serial-numbered and individually tested at a CNAS-accredited laboratory. The certificate arrives with the filter and goes straight into your IQ/OQ validation file with no separate request and no chasing documentation after the fact. Note: test certificates are only supplied with H14 HEPA filters, not lower grades.

Local stock: no 8–12 week import delays

Most HEPA suppliers in South Africa import to order. Prebur holds both full-size (610×610×292mm) and half-size (305×610×292mm) formats in stock in Silverton, Pretoria. Orders placed before midday are despatched same-day. Critical for scheduled cleanroom shutdowns that cannot slip.

37 years supplying pharmaceutical and healthcare

Prebur has supplied H14 HEPA to South African pharmaceutical manufacturers, compounding pharmacies, and hospital groups since 1989. We understand SAHPRA GMP context, EU GMP Annex 1 documentation requirements, and the validation file expectations of QA teams.

H14 HEPA filters are the terminal filtration stage in environments where air quality directly affects product quality, patient safety, or equipment reliability. They are always installed downstream of G4 panel pre-filters and F9 pocket secondary filters. The upstream stages protect the HEPA from premature loading.

Pharmaceutical cleanrooms

The final filtration stage for GMP manufacturing environments. H14 HEPA is required for Grade A/B cleanrooms under SAHPRA and EU GMP Annex 1. Individual test certificates support IQ/OQ validation documentation.

Hospital operating theatres

Terminal HEPA filtration for theatre ventilation systems. Removes airborne bacteria, fungal spores, and fine particulate that could compromise sterile fields during procedures.

Compounding pharmacies

Sterile compounding suites require HEPA-grade air in ISO Class 5 or better environments. H14 is the specified grade for compounding isolators and cleanroom AHU terminal units.

Data centres: critical zones

High-specification data centres use HEPA where standard F9 filtration is not sufficient for sensitive equipment protection. Terminal HEPA in precision cooling units removes sub-micron particulate that causes long-term component degradation.

Biocontainment and BSL facilities

H14 HEPA is specified for exhaust filtration in biosafety level 3 and higher facilities, preventing release of biological aerosols. Terminal filters on exhaust ducts are validated and individually certificated.

Food and beverage: high-care areas

High-care zones in food manufacturing where airborne contamination risk is a product safety concern. HEPA terminal filtration above open product lines in sensitive applications.

What is a HEPA air filter and what does H14 mean?

HEPA stands for High Efficiency Particulate Air. These filters capture extremely fine particles from the air: dust, bacteria, aerosols, and other contaminants that standard filters miss. H14 is the highest HEPA grade under the EN1822 standard, capturing 99.995% of particles at the most penetrating particle size (MPPS). Lower grades like H13 (99.95%) exist, but H14 is specified where absolute cleanliness is required: pharmaceutical manufacturing, hospital theatres, and sterile compounding.

How often should HEPA air filters be replaced?

Replace when differential pressure across the filter reaches 500–600 Pa. In pharmaceutical Grade A/B environments, typically every 12–18 months. In lower-dust environments such as data centres, 3–5 years is common. Replace based on differential pressure readings and validation requirements, not calendar time alone. Well-maintained upstream pre-filtration (G4 panels and F9 pockets) extends HEPA service life significantly.

What sizes of HEPA air filter do you stock?

We stock two standard sizes in Pretoria: full-size (610 × 610 × 292 mm) and half-size (305 × 610 × 292 mm). These fit the majority of pharmaceutical and hospital AHU housings in South Africa. For non-standard sizes, we can supply custom dimensions on a 7–10 day lead time.

Do you deliver HEPA filters nationwide?

Yes, delivery available across South Africa. HEPA filters are high-value items and are carefully packaged for safe transit. Orders placed before midday are despatched same-day from our Silverton, Pretoria warehouse. Critical for scheduled cleanroom shutdowns that cannot slip.

Do HEPA filters come with test certificates?

Yes, but only H14 HEPA filters. Each Airtech H14 is individually tested at a CNAS-accredited laboratory and ships with its own serial-numbered EN1822 test report. The certificate documents that specific filter's tested efficiency at MPPS, not a batch sample. It goes straight into your IQ/OQ validation file with no separate request needed.

How do HEPA filters work with pre-filters and secondary filters?

HEPA filters are always used as the final stage in a multi-stage filtration system. Upstream stages remove coarser particles first: G4 panel filters capture large dust and debris, F9 pocket filters remove fine particulate, and the H14 HEPA provides terminal high-efficiency filtration. This three-stage approach protects the expensive HEPA from premature loading and extends its service life to 3–5 years. Neglecting upstream pre-filtration is the primary cause of early HEPA failure.
